Trojan Hoarse: With Bruins Next, USC Smelling Like Roses
by: Shane Carney | SportsFan Magazine | Saturday, December 3, 2005
December 3 is finally here. I can already smell the roses.
The first game of the home and home series is at the Coliseum. The second game is at the Rose Bowl. It's just too bad for UCLA that they aren't going to get to play their home game.
This is the game everyone has been waiting for. Half of the UCLA fans are hoping to pull off an enormous upset. The other half are looking for the big win since they consider themselves equal to the Trojans. USC fans are sitting confident and excited to see one final victory before marching across town to play for the national championship.
Every true fan should do something to support their team, and I expect that everyone will.
Expect the Trojans to be fired up even more than normal as the Bruins have had some things to say leading up to the game this weekend. The Trojans responded with words of their own including calling the Bruins "pansies."
Look for big hits to intensify a game that will already have an extremely high level of intensity.
I made my big hit on a Bruin this past Monday morning. Although it was on accident, don't think there wasn't a message being sent.
This past Monday morning, I flew into LAX to get back to school after Thanksgiving break. I picked up my baggage and made my way out to the waiting area for my shuttle service to get back to campus.
Leaning against a pole with several other USC students, I happened to be rolling my suitcase back and forth until I slammed it into someone's leg. Naturally, my first reaction was to see who I hit, hoping it wasn't an old lady or a huge man.
Who did I hit with my suitcase?
It was none other than the head coach of the UCLA Bruins football team, Karl Dorrell.
Oh, he looked scared. He saw the USC sweatshirts, and he went running for the hills.
The big hit I laid on Karl is definitely the start to the pummeling of the Bruins by USC.
Now, I know that most of you reading this right now are wondering if this is some kind of joke. Well, I really did hit Karl Dorrell with my suitcase, but it was not the start to a beat down of the Bruins.
The domination started a long time ago and is building up as the days go by. By Saturday, the Trojans will be ready to completely dominate the Bruins.
Look for Reggie Bush to rack up about a mile of total yardage. This game will be high-scoring, but the real question is how high the Trojans can go?
